Hot Water Joe/Liz
Purpose of the Invention:
Hot Water Joe is a unique thermometer offering consumers a visual and
audio alert when water temperatures are desirable in showers, baths and
sinks. Freeing you up from repeated manual testing of water temperatures,
Hot Water Joe assesses the water for you! This cute animal-shaped invention
easily attaches to just about any surface and recognizes the proper water
temperature so you don’t have to! Hot Water Joe was designed to put the fun
in functional!
Problem[s] the Invention Solves:
Cold weather can affect water pipes. The initial water from those pipes
can be frigid and it may take several minutes for water to heat up and reach
the faucet at the user's end. No one likes to step into the shower to unbearably
cold water. The same is true for baths. People spend an undue amount of
time waiting for the water to reach a comfortable temperature. Many place their
hands under the faucet repeatedly in hopes of finding the proper temperature.
Performing other duties could save time, but without the constant attention to
the faucet there is no way to know when a suitable temperature has been
reached. That often sends hot water down the drain. Hot Water Joe will alert
you of the appropriate condition so waste no longer occurs.
Detailed Description of the Invention:
Hot Water Joe is a clever tool that informs individuals of the proper water
temperature without the person having to test and re-test the water. This is a
fun shaped thermometer with designs including but not limited to, monkeys,
lizards and other cute animal shapes. The unit has a body that is
approximately 4 inches long. The "tail" end of the Hot Water Joe, the monkey
and lizard specifically, measure approximately 6 inches in length. A copper
wire “spine” allows the consumer to adjust and secure the flexible plastic or
rubber animal against faucets, showerhead and tub and sink edges. By
placing the tail of Hot Water Joe under the stream of water, the built in
thermometer located in the tail gauges the proper degree. A simple bimetal
switch programmed to alert when temperature level reaches approximately
40C or 105F will be used. When this level is attained the switch will close a
circuit thus triggering an audio or visual alert. This device contains an internal
battery that powers the sound and light alerts when the circuit is closed. When
the consumer hears or sees the alert, they know that the water is now at a
comfortable condition. The alert automatically switches the circuit to the open
position and ceases when the temperature drops out of range. An easier way
to gauge water condition cannot be found! This is a handy invention
specifically designed with convenience and safety in mind. Hot Water Joe will
become an indispensable part of any bathing routine.
